Background
In view of the perspective change on telecommunications industry in Hong Kong under CEPA, the executive committee of ITAHK has decided to form a delegation visit to Beijing enabling our members to have an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with senior officials from Ministry of Information Industry and Ministry of Commerce that may arise under CEPA.
After active communication and support gained from Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, PRC (翠緿快) and Liaison Office of the Central People`s Government in the HKSAR (い羛快) in organizing the visit, the delegation was successfully made on May 11, 2004.
To make the trip a fruitful one, the association has commissioned Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, Department of Information & Systems Management to conduct a research paper titled "Further Cooperation between Hong Kong and the Mainlandˇs Telecommunications Sector under the CEPA Framework". It was in most extent reflected ITAHK members' views, comments and their expectations towards CEPA. The report was also handed during a courtesy visit with Mr. John Tsang, Secretary of Commerce, Information & Technology Bureau before the delegation.
The aforesaid research report in both English & Chinese versions as well as the press release on May 12, 2004 are now posted for members' download.
