Communications Association of Hong Kong (CAHK)
was founded in 1983 as a non-profit-making association
for Hong Kong's communications industries. Over
the years, CAHK have been actively involved in
all matters pertaining to the overall business
development for the industry, regulatory issues,
and maintenance of different industry codes of
practices and quality standards.
The ICT sector is evolving rapidly, with newer
and more diversified technologies expected in
the coming years, including WiMAX , mobile television,
etc. Hence, CAHK sees the need not only to enrich
the skills, knowledge and creativity of different
levels of ICT professional and employees, but
also to develop new talent coming into the industry
in order to fulfill the anticipated needs.
However, the industry has witnessed a shortage
of ICT talents in Hong Kong, more significantly
with the trend that new university-bound students
moving towards non-technology subjects as they
see an uncertainty in such a career, or the lack
thereof.
Given the above, these seminars will be an importance
vehicle to showcase the best in technology application
and business innovation, with a primary objective
to illustrate the thriving opportunities for personal
skills and career development that are available
within the realms of ICT.
By using major implementation of technology within
different government and commercial sectors, and
with special emphasis on their respective design
and development process, participants will be
able to see the opportunities for skill enhancements
and job enrichment, in addition to the value of
these projects to the society. Through these tangible
examples, CAHK hope to be able to positively introduce
the significance of ICT to our industry's existing
and potential workforce, and thereby reinforce
commitment to those already working in the sector,
while encouraging a new flood of talent to consider
similar careers.
