1. Applying for a new service:
- It pays to first check with your service provider all the technical arrangements involved. These include any additional wiring required, service coverage, etc.
- Then go through all the terms and conditions in the service contract. So you can make sure if they are all acceptable to you.
2. Understanding a new service:
- You should first obtain information on the features and functionality of the service. This will help you decide if they suit your needs.
- Then consider if the contract period, plan charge, or free offer, etc. are reasonable.
- Where possible, you can also try to get the opinion of existing registered users.
3. Changing service providers:
- To change telecom service providers (fixed network), fill in the ‘Notification Service Disconnection’ form and submit it to your new service provider.
- Make sure all the information filled in is complete and accurate.
- To facilitate smooth transition of service provision, the information for the new service provider should be the same as that registered with the existing service provider.
4. Moving house before contract expires:
- First check with your service provider whether your new address is on the service coverage list.
- You can then arrange service relocation with your service provider. But before filing a service relocation application, you should check with the service provider the lead-time and the charge involved.
- In case your new address is not covered by the service, you should consult the service provider for alternative service arrangements (e.g. transfer of service ownership or service termination). Get all relevant supporting documents ready for your service provider to make the necessary arrangements.
5. Looking for after-sales services:
- Obtain from your service provider a detailed list of after-sales services available to see if they meet your requirements.
6. Blocking junk fax/call:
- You should record the calling number, the date and time of receiving the junk fax/call.
- Keep the junk fax received as supporting document and report the situation to the service provider for follow-up action.
