Hong Kong's Telecommunications Story - With Pride in Our Achievements

An informative and beautifully illustrated book detailing the history of telecommunications in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a world leader in the telecommunications industry, boasting numerous firsts - in innovation, the latest technology, new services, as well as the deregulation and opening of its markets. The journey however has not been easy - the twists and turns along the way include the virtual lack of movement in the early days of telecommunication, the near bankruptcy of Hongkong Telephone, the sole provider of telephone services, in the mid-70s, as well as legal battles on the road to liberalisation.

Building on the personal recollections of more than a hundred people in the industry, Hong Kong's Telecommunications Story documents this journey. It brings the history of Hong Kong's telecommunications to life with a vivid and first hand account of the trials experienced, battles fought and triumphs achieved as Hong Kong established its reputation as a world leader in the telecommunications industry today.
